My employer's protocols were dictated by one of the first hospitals to enforce jab mandates, and that hospital set pur protocols before jabs were available. It included masks - absurdly useless cloth masks were just fine - and that hospital came once a week to our workplace to administer the long stick deep nasal swab pcr tests. Then when jabs were first available they imposed arbitrary compliance standards for employees which were tied to the employer's ability to perform financially. Up until then I had gone along with all of the hocus pocus covid theatrics such as one way stairwells, strict 6' distancing, custodians spraying down areas with disinfectant, removal of drinking fountains, separating employees into smaller groups with specifically designated building entrances and entrance times, and having to answer a list of questions posed by a staff member before being granted entrance. I had a friend react to a big batch of shots for a missionary trip. Almost lost his liver over it. But he pulled through.
When my husband went in the military for Vietnam, the batch of injections put him in his bunk so sick he could not even get to sick bay.

My employer's protocols were dictated by one of the first hospitals to enforce jab mandates, and that hospital set pur protocols before jabs were available. It included masks - absurdly useless cloth masks were just fine - and that hospital came once a week to our workplace to administer the long stick deep nasal swab pcr tests. Then when jabs were first available they imposed arbitrary compliance standards for employees which were tied to the employer's ability to perform financially. Up until then I had gone along with all of the hocus pocus covid theatrics such as one way stairwells, strict 6' distancing, custodians spraying down areas with disinfectant, removal of drinking fountains, separating employees into smaller groups with specifically designated building entrances and entrance times, and having to answer a list of questions posed by a staff member before being granted entrance. I truly believe these were unnecessary theatrical inconveniences with the purpose of stoking fear and frustrating people so that when the saviour jab came on scene, the masses would readily accept it in order to get back to normal.

I don't think Trump ignored Covid. After all git it and was treated with repurposed drugs and MAs and was fighting fit in 3-days. It was the nursing homes and hospitals that killed people. Bill Maher has been voicing his frustration on the covid policies for at least the last couple of years about as much as you can and still have a job. It's pretty obvious he reads things many of us here do and he has personal access to the guests from diverse viewpoints that he has on the show.
Outside of his apparent Trump derangement syndrome, he seems to reject the extremes of both political parties as an old school liberal.
