Let us also defend and nurture our pasture-raised cows! Without food we have nothing. I'd also add the Second Amendment to this list -- without guns we cannot enforce or protect anything on your list, or crops, livestock or food stores for that matter. I hope I never need them, but I must keep my powder dry, and my seed supplies too.
With you on both---last season, carefully selected just one cabbage var to go to seed. This season, a different. If the food comes out of my soil, I know what's in it (barring barium and strontium from on high). 35 years of cultivating the same soil brings great reward.
Soil tests by U Me (although I live in Pa--Me does hugely better job of testing) showed that last year I only needed N--which I did in form of blood meal ($$) This year, furnishing that with "Natural nitrogen" (from husband and self). Also UMe said my soil microbial biomass HIGH. I get raw Jersey milk weekly from Lancaster Cty farmer delivered to location near me. Pasture raised. Actually have two ~3k sq ft veg gardens in Pa and Me + small + large fruits.
