From your list of vital, Wikileaks revealed truths, I'd add that his dispatches of documents (that were never supposed to be seen by the public) that show many people captured by the U.S. military and intelligence agencies were secretly tortured. Even if some of these people were terrorists, America should not condone or participate in torture. And one knows that many of those who were tortured and detained for years or decades probably weren't terrorists.
The bottom-line is that a clear "message" was sent to Assange and anyone who might emulate his brand of journalism. That message is/was: Do not embarrass or expose our criminal activities .... or this is what will happen to you.
It will accelerate because they are now covering up so many crimes. They know they could all go down - the swamp really could be drained - if "the truth" was ever exposed.
